Ben Larg, Big wave surfer
Nazaré, Ship Wrecks and Pizza Slices
Starting young
Born into a surfer’s family who run Blackhouse Watersports on the Isle of Tiree, it’s no surprise that Ben started surfing when he was about three years old. He’s always loved to mess around in the water and many a days have been spent at Balevullin beach learning how to ride the wave… You can watch his amazing story in the award winning documentary “Ride the Wave”.
Dreaming big (breaks)
Ben has surfed some amazing breaks, including Thurso, Brims Bowl, Ship Wrecks and monster waves at Mallaghmore in Ireland (the youngest person to do so). Finally, in 2022, the dream to surf 50ft plus waves in Nazaré in Portugal came true. He joined the Red Bull Team in the same year. He still has lots of breaks to try like Jaws, Pizza Slices, Aileens, Skeleton Bay and Nias to name but a few.
Loving (water) life
Ben loves being in and around the water. Whether it’s catching a wave or fishing, on the stunning home isle of Tiree or in the warm waters of Lanzarote. Water is central to his passion, even his favourite drink is water and fish is his favourite food. When he’s not on the water, Ben will grab his skateboard or snowboard and spends time with his awesome family, wherever they are in the world.
